Plus Size Floral Maxi Dress

Summer is definitely in bloom with floral print popping up on dresses, tops, and even bottoms.  My favorite is definitely the floral maxi dress because if styled correctly it can flatter all body types.  When styling an outfit, I search for comfortable pieces that are affordable, fun, and classic.  Read on for tips on how to style a floral maxi dress.

How to Style a Floral Maxi Dress

Contrary to popular belief, a plus-size beauty can rock a floral maxi dress.  There is a lot of print, so the focus should be on the cut of the dress.  Think less boxy and more free flowing with an empire waist and a strategically placed thigh slit.  So play with the cut of the dress and find the right amount of flirty for you.

Now that you found the perfect dress, let’s match it with accessories that complement rather than distract from the complete look.

1. Pick a comfortable shoe with a fun detail

Being a plus-size person, I function best when wearing comfortable flats.  The selection is so vast that my shoes can be both comfortable and fun.  My top picks are the tan criss cross ballet flats, rose gold wide-width ballet flats, and black gladiator sandals.  These are all super cute, come in wide-width, and can be found at either Nordstrom, Macy’s, or Torrid for under $60.  So get out there (or online) and pick out a few comfortable shoes.

2. Pair it with either a nude or vibrant color handbag

When choosing a handbag, you can choose to either go with a solid nude or a vibrant color.  Multicolored accessories can distract from the floral pattern, so stick with a solid color and play with different textures and cutout patterns instead to add pizzaz.  The handbags in this lookbook range from $15 to $50, so it is possible to look good and stay on budget.

3. Complement your look with a pair of trendy sunglasses and a hat

It’s Summer, so you can incorporate a pair of trendy sunglasses and a cute straw hat to your look.  I found a pair of LC Conrad sunglasses for $15 and a sun hat for $28.  So, I encourage you to play with accessories to bring a bit of your personality into the outfit.
